Want your iPhone to control your receiver, DVR, TV, cable and whatever the hell else you have in your home theater setup? Waltham, MA-based Thinkflood thinks they have the answer for you with their new RedEye app.
“Consisting of a small, production-grade hardware device and a free downloadable software beta application, the RedEye system transforms an iPhone or iPod touch into a universal remote control, allowing consumers to control an almost unlimited number of home entertainment devices,” ThinkFlood said in a press release.
The press release added: “Once downloaded, the iPhone/iPod is able to communicate with the RedEye hub using Wi-Fi, meaning no line of sight is required and control is possible from any room in the house. RedEye receives the iPhone’s commands and sends out infrared signals to control the designated devices.”
This. sounds. awesome.
We know that we have five friggin’ remotes at the Inked Up headquarters and it is absolutely maddening. One of our five remotes is a damn universal remote that doesn’t quite do everything, so you still need the four others. So this app better be a real substitute or it’s just another 70%-effective universal.
The app is still in beta mode.
