iPhone 3GS Jailbreak Race Is On
June 26th, 2009It was bound to happen. Apple releases it’s latest phone, the iPhone 3GS, and geeks everywhere begin to get all hot and bothered. A group of hackers have announced that they are hard at work at cracking the code, and the iPhone 3GS jailbreak could happen “soon.” We defer to Techtree because we don’t really know what this means…
Apple’s freshly launched iPhone 3GS has become a hackable toy for iPhone Dev team. George Hotz, the one who came out with iPhone 3G unlock, along with other mates had stated that the “24kpwn” exploit used for of iPod Touch 2G jailbreak will work for iPhone 3GS jailbreak and unlock.
The iPhone Dev team, in its blog, stated that the existing iPhone unlocking tools like redsn0w and Pwnage Tool can be used to jailbreak and unlock the new iPhone 3GS.
George Hotz, the guy who goes with user name Geohot on Twitter said:
On a personal note, I’m sad. Apple, it took me a week to break through your new defenses. And to let us reuse an exploit like that; 24kpwn was so 5 months ago. Although I imagine it must have been painful watching the devices roll by on the assembly line, knowing they all had a hole in them and you couldn’t fix it.
