iPhone to get global flat-fee voice service
January 26th, 2009International travelers rejoice! Coming soon to the iPhone app store is Vo-Fi from DeFi Mobile. It’s an application that will allow you to have flat-fee voice service on Wi-Fi. This is perfect when traveling abroad so you don’t get nailed with huge fees.
If you download the app, you get 101 free minutes of talk time. After that – you guessed it! – you have to pay. You can upgrade to DeFi Global Access for $40-$50 month.
And if you don’t want to pay, you can continue to talk for free with other DeFi users, or by using Skype or Google Talk. Unless Skype and Google Talk (never used either) are total crap, just use those.
It doesn’t say how much the app will cost to download and I have neither the time nor the inclination to find out. You’ll be ok.
